FILMCLUB ( is an education charity that helps schools set up clubs giving young people the chance to watch, discuss and review a diverse range of films from around the world and from over 100 years of cinema.

Offering in-school screenings, online reviewing and close links with the film industry, FILMCLUB promotes learning in an informal setting while encouraging critical engagement from young people.

FILMCLUB is funded by The BFI Lottery Fund and receives philanthropic support from LOVEFILM. Its patrons include filmmaker Mike Leigh and actors Emma Thompson and Michael Sheen.

FILMCLUB has grown from a 25-school pilot to reach over 7,000 schools and 220,000 members across the UK.

Members can choose from its catalogue of thousands of rated and reviewed titles, available to order through the website and delivered directly to schools via LOVEFILM.

FILMCLUB is a unique forum for pupil voice with over 6,000 reviews uploaded onto the website each week. Teachers receive training, support and access to a wide range of downloadable film guides and educational resources. The dynamic Industry Interaction programme includes Q&As, screenings, workshops and monthly webcast interviews with creative professionals, streamed live online to every club in the country.

Research shows the scheme delivers significant educational and social benefits, helping young people to develop: improved literacy and critical skills, independent thinking, improved ICT skills, broader cultural awareness, vocational aspiration and confidence.

The service is FREE to state schools in England and Wales and available to other educational organisations and private schools.
