Delegates visiting the Dell stand (B20) at BETT will be able to experience the Connected Classroom. The company says it integrates technology into every aspect of the learning environment, connecting students, teachers, parents and IT staff. Dell provides the IT infrastructure, software and services to support it – and partners content providers.
The American School of Milan is one of the first in Europe to have deployed the Connected Classroom solution. Students from ages three to 18 use Dell mobile technology via touch interfaces to collaborate on interactive whiteboards and create animated storyboards and explore virtual 3D worlds.
They can develop digital music and art, and use integrated webcams to talk to peers around the world. They can also take their learning environment wherever they go, using Dell Latitude 2100 netbooks.
IT staff can manage netbook software and upgrades from a central hub using a Dell Mobile Computing Station cart and services such as Remote Systems Management. IT staff don’t have to leave their desks to tackle problems or manage upgrades and Custom Factory Integration, so that the laptops and netbooks arrive at school ready-to-use.
