As a unique educational body in the UK, we bring together the three areas of curriculum, examinations and assessment.

Our work includes advising government on what should be taught in Northern Ireland’s schools and colleges. We also monitor standards to ensure that the qualifications and examinations offered by awarding bodies in Northern Ireland are of an appropriate quality and standard.

As NI’s leading awarding body we offer a diverse range of qualifications, including GCSEs, GCE A and AS levels, Entry Level Qualifications, and Graded Objectives in Modern Languages.

A1 Technologies

A1 is changing the world in the field of 3D design and printing by bringing 3D technologies to the market at very low prices, so that everyone can afford to use them.

The majority of 3D design in the world is done in 3D CAD. But CAD users are a tiny percentage of all those who might design in 3D if they had the right tool. That tool now exists - the Chameleon.  3D designers can not only see but feel what they are doing as well – there is force feedback on the 3D mouse. Not only is the Chameleon low cost (price under UK£500) but it can be used by everyone from a 5 year old child upwards, and its output can then be printed.

Another way of generating a 3D file is using a laser scanner for reverse engineering or scanning an existing part or shape.  We are offering the David laser scanner, the world's lowest cost 3D scanner (price under UK £350) which allows anyone to copy a physical object.

The RapMan (price under UK £1,000) is the leading kit 3D printer in the world, which has to be assembled by the customer.  The pre-built version, the BfB 3D 3000 (price under UK £2,000) does the same thing except it is plug-in-and-run, and yet still at a fraction of the price of other 3D printers on the market. Both these products can print in a number of polymers (especially ABS and PLA), which are also very low cost.

We also offer the Cool Tool range of products which allow children to start experimenting with 3D technologies such as milling, routing and turning. Like our other products, these modular kits are very low cost and extremely easy to use. At the top end, the CNC range allows 3D .stl files to be machined, as an alternative to 3D printing. These kits start at under UK£100.

BehaviourWatch

Improve behaviour to enhance the learning experience

Tracking behaviour can be very time-consuming. Managing all of the information can be even more daunting. As the paper piles up, can you really say that you’re effectively handling the reporting of incidents, let alone manage them? What would happen if information goes missing, or is recorded incorrectly, or not even acted upon? With web-based electronic forms, you could be recording incidents as they happen then automatically emailing them to relevant staff, leading to a paperless environment. With rich and detailed analysis, you would be able to improve classroom behaviour and the learning experience.

BehaviourWatch is an advanced web-based system which allows teachers to log behaviour incidents online and eliminates the need for paper-based reports. When incidents are logged automatic emails will immediately alert relevant staff and intelligent analysis enables quick identification of areas of concern. Most importantly the system is completely tailored to the individual school's needs.

Millionaire for Schools

Millionaire for Schools is an exciting new partnership between Charanga and 2waytraffic bringing Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? - the world’s most popular quiz format - to a school audience.

Teachers2Parents

Teachers2Parents is a communication service, which works with your school database to give you a simple and more efficient way of communicating with parents.

Teachers do not have the time to communicate with a large number of parents on a regular basis. Yet parents would provide better support to their child if they were kept informed more often. For various reasons, phone calls to parents can be unnecessarily time consuming and school reports are relatively infrequent. Using text messaging, teachers can inform parents far more frequently; putting pupils under constant pressure. At the same time, parents can also be notified to praise their child for good progress at school.

Each text message is automatically personalised to include the pupils name. As there is no need to type each message or any part of it, they are sent immediately with immense ease.

Truancy Call

Truancy Call, a leading provider of innovative and award winning, automatic notification systems in over 1,300 schools and colleges.  We continue to improve parental and school awareness through the use of automatic notification systems.

We have relationships with most Schools Management Information systems, including Capita SIMS (‘premier partner’ status) and Hebron.

Truancy Call (www.truancycall.com) – an automatic parent notification system that significantly reduces the administrative burden on schools by allowing them to implement first-day contact with parents of truants via email, SMS and automated phone call.  The system will continue to make contact until the parent has provided a reason for their child’s absence.

Call Parents (www.callparents.com) – a highly cost-effective, automatic notification system used by schools to inform parents via email, SMS and automated phone calls of forthcoming events and important school notices.

Text Someone (www.textsomeone.com) – a service for schools that gives pupils the power to report incidents of bullying, or unwanted behaviour in confidence, 24/7 by text, email or phone.

E-Mentoring (www.e-mentoring.co.uk) – a service for secondary schools whereby students have 24/7 contact with a supportive member of staff or ‘mentor’ about their work via text, mobile phone WAP site, forum, or secure web site.
