JISC Collections for Schools

Schools can save up to 75% on a wide range of trusted online subscription resources through the Becta-funded JISC Collections for Schools initiative (www.jcs.nen.gov.uk).  
Supporting teaching and learning across the curriculum, resources include newspaper archives, copyright-cleared image libraries, plus general and subject reference information.

Discounts are available to individual schools, but the greatest savings are on offer to schools subscribing as part of a group with a combined total of at least 2,500 learners.   
A choice of 11 resources is currently available, and 14 additional resources (including video galleries for primary schools) will be on offer from September 2009.  
An unlimited number of staff and students at subscribing schools can use each resource simultaneously, wherever they are (school, home or even internet cafe) and whenever they like.

An expanding range of teaching materials is being specially commissioned to accompany JISC Collections for Schools resources, and lesson plans produced by the National Association for the Teaching of English are already available free of charge at www.jcs.nen.gov.uk/teachers.  Materials for History and Science will be available soon.
